A compact island fishing village known for galleries, cafés, climbing and one of the world’s most photographed football pitches.Local story and Arctic life
Henningsvær became one of Lofoten’s important fishing stations. Bridges replaced the old ferry connection in 1983, while the harbour, fish racks and tightly built islands kept their maritime character.
Local food culture
Enjoy cod, stockfish, seafood plates, artisan coffee and baked goods. The small village has an unusually varied restaurant and café scene.
Aurora advice
The road toward Gimsøy and the darker coast beyond the village often gives a wider northern view than the illuminated harbour.
